Nashua bus operator dies while driving, passenger steps in to avert disaster

Luckily, no passengers or bystanders were hurt.

(TKO) — A passenger had to jump in and stop a Nashua bus when the driver blacked out and died behind the wheel late Monday morning.

The Nashua Telegraph said the bus sideswiped a parked car before people on board noticed something wasn’t right.

Lizette Markham reportedly jumped up to the driver and noticed he was unconscious and unresponsive from a medical emergency.

Markham told the paper she put her foot on the brake to get the bus to stop, but didn’t know how to turn the bus off.  She stayed there until help arrived.

The driver has not been identified and it’s not clear what kind of medical emergency it was.
