(TKO) — Marlborough police are responding to complaints about its drug enforcement policy with a ‘change’ in its law enforcement efforts.

In a social media post, the police department is dubbing this week “Real Crime Roundup of 2020.”

As part of this, the police department is “…respectfully [requesting] that all local cannabis connoisseurs refrain from ‘ridin’ dirty’ on our roadways during this time people so we can focus on catching ‘real’ criminals.”

The department said it hurts their efforts to focus on “real crime” when they pull over a driver and their car smells “strongly like the State of California.”

Police say the best way to avoid getting pulled over is staying in your living room.

“So sit back, relax, and order a pizza or twelve,” the department wrote. “You will be safe from ‘police harassment’ in the comfort of your own home and we will be able to focus on putting your tax dollars to good use.”

Marlborough police added: “To pot it bluntly: weed like you to stop smoking the married iguanas in your cars, dopes!”
